Who we are
Glyde is a rental search app for iOS and Android, and this website at glyde.properties. Glyde is operated by Glyde Properties LLC ("Glyde", "we", "us"), which is the controller of the personal data described here.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and sign in credentials.
- Search preferences: budget, areas, bedrooms, property types, must haves and commute time.
- Tenant profile: optional details you choose to add, such as employment status, income range, move date and who you'll live with.
- Saved homes: the homes you heart or star, and any interest you register with an agent.
- Voice searches: audio you record when you use voice search, and the text transcribed from it. See below.
- Location: only if you choose to use it. See below.
- Waitlist details: if you join the waitlist on this website, your name, email, phone platform and anything you tell us you're looking for.
- Device data on your phone: recent searches and which homes you've already swiped, kept on your device to make the app faster.
Voice searches
When you record a voice search, the audio is sent over an encrypted connection to our servers, transcribed into text, and then deleted. We do not keep the recording. We keep the text of your request so we can find matching homes and save your preferences.
We keep the words you said, never the sound of your voice.
Location
Glyde never asks for your location when the app opens. We only ask if you tap "Use my current location" while setting your search area. You can type a town or postcode instead. Your location is used to set that search area and to calculate distances and travel times for your searches.
How we use your data
- To run your account and keep you signed in securely.
- To understand voice and text searches and show homes that match.
- To save your preferences, saved homes and shortlist.
- To pass your interest to a listing agent when you ask us to.
- To email you when Glyde launches, if you joined the waitlist.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- To improve how well Glyde matches homes to what people ask for.
Legal basis
Under UK GDPR we rely on:
- Contract: to provide the app and the features you use.
- Consent: for microphone and location access, and for waitlist emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: to keep Glyde secure and improve search quality, balanced against your rights.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us run Glyde, under contracts that protect your data: Supabase (accounts and database), Cloudflare (website hosting), Google Workspace (email), and the providers we use for transcription and search.
- Letting agents, when you register interest in a home. We share the contact and profile details needed for them to respond.
- Authorities, where the law requires it or to protect people's safety.
Some providers may process data outside the UK. When they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy decisions.
How long we keep it
- Account data, preferences and saved homes: while your account exists.
- Voice recordings: deleted as soon as they're transcribed.
- Waitlist details: until Glyde launches and we've told you, then for up to 12 months unless you create an account or ask us to remove them sooner.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app at any time: go to Profile, then Delete account, and confirm. This permanently removes your account, your preferences, your saved homes and your sign in details. It cannot be undone.
To be removed from the waitlist, email info@glyde.properties.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict how we use it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To use any of these rights, email us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Glyde is not intended for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from children.
This website
glyde.properties runs no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. Fonts are served from our own domain, so visiting the site doesn't send your details to third party font services. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard request information such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
